The Center for Trauma & Resilience is in need of caring individuals who are available during weekdays for internship or volunteer positions with our Hotline.

Students of social work, psychology, human services and other related fields are needed to assist in the hotline providing case management, information, advocacy, counseling and support groups for victims of crime. Community volunteers are always welcome.

All interns and community volunteers attend our 40-hour training class. Our training is held three times a year, in January, May and September.  Applications are accepted at any time.

Volunteer/Intern Application

The 40-hour course covers basic listening and crisis intervention techniques, victimology issues, the criminal justice system, symptoms of trauma and grief, resources and related topics. Role plays, speakers, interactive exercises and home study are all integral parts of the training.

Graduate Internship

Regional Schools Offer Graduate Internship Credit at The Center for Trauma & Resilence.

The Center for Trauma & Resilience announces it has coordinated with a number of regional schools to offer graduate school credit for internships for those students accepted to provide services for its various crime victims’ assistance programs. Eligible students include those currently enrolled in MSW, MA or MS in psychology, social work or related programs, and have experience in crisis counseling and case management. The Center accepts up to five interns for academic terms and provides training and clinical supervision.  The Center for Trauma & Resilience staff members hold a wide range of graduate degrees and certifications.  The graduate schools participating are: Metropolitan State College of Denver, University of Colorado Denver, University of Colorado Boulder, Regis University, Iliff School of Theology, Denver Seminary, Colorado Christian University, Colorado State University, University of Northern Colorado, New Mexico Highlands University and Adams State College and University of Denver.  (Not currently accepting applications from the DU School of Social Work.)
